PPP Frankreich 2019 Phase I "Behavioural Matter"

Built from the two projects Matters of Activity and Behavioral Objects, our research project
Behavioral Matter intends to question the notion of behavior with regards to matter and
materials, objects and techniques, and to create new processes, new forms and formats for an
interdisciplinary research in science, humanities, art and design around the activity - or
responsivity - of matter. The experimental dimension of our project will lead us to set up one
hands-on workshop in Paris (February 2019) in the context of the exhibition Programmer le
vivant at Centre Pompidou, two symposiums (one in Paris in 2019 and one in Berlin in 2020),
one exhibition in Berlin (2020) and one publication in 2021. Two institutions will lead the
project: Humboldt University in Berlin (HU) and École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs
(ENSAD - PSL University) in Paris, in partnership with Max Planck Institute for Colloids and
Interfaces (MPIKG - Potsdam), École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI -
Paris) and École polytechnique (Paris).
