Activation of SF6 at Rhodium and Platinum Complexes

The proposal deals with the activation of SF6 at rhodium and platinum compounds. Based on stoichiometric model reactions and mechanistic studies, the development of catalytic processes is envisaged. For the degradation or derivatization of SF6 at rhodium complexes, transformations in the presence of silanes, germanes or stannanes will be carried out. Furthermore, SF6 will be activated at platinum complexes and the resulting metal sulfanyl derivatives will then be used for fluorination reactions. In addition, complexes with fluorinated sulfur-containing ligands will be synthesized starting from SF4, SF5Cl, and SF5Br. These will serve as model substances for conceivable intermediates in reactions with SF6.
