Phylogeny and historical Biogeography of the genus Hydropsyche Pictet, 1834 (Insecta: Trichoptera)

Currently, the genus contain about 250 species. They are inhabitants of running waters and are used as bioindicators in water quality monitoring systems. The genus is distributed nearly world-wide, but became unwieldly and difficult to handle. The project aims at provinding a new taxonomic structure, which is based on a phylogenetic analysis in order to reach a durable taxonomic structure.
