Safety, Health Protection, and Health Promotion in School

This longitudinal intervention project aims at health promotion and accident prevention in secondary school students based on a quasi-experimental evaluation design with pre- and posttest. Intervention effects of health promotion measures by means of stress reduction and improvement of social climate in classes are evaluated. The intervention is performed by trained teachers in regular classes who also continuously report on the extent of implementation of the measures they realized in their classes. Groups of pupils either receiving general promotion measures across a variety of subjects (experimental group 1) or specific promotion measures in sports classes (experimental group 2) and a control group are compared with respect to the development of school accidents and psychosocial health indicators.
