SFB 498: In vitro characterization of new rhodopsins from green algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii (TP B10)


Within the presented project we will express "new rhodopsins" with intrinsic ion conductance or enzyme activity (channelrhodopsins and enzyme-rhodopsins9 from green algae. As host systems we will employ Escherichia coli, yeast, Xenopus oocytes, HEK293, SF9, Chlamydomonas and halobacteria. Purified wild-type proteins and selected mutants will be studied using biochemical and spectroscopic methods.
