"Action-Will, Weakness of Will"


Question regarding the theory of action are adressed by Aristotle in a number of different contexts, among them Ethics, philosophy of nature and epistemology. HIs approach towards this subject-matter is still a central point of reference in the current debate. The conference is designed both to contribute to the interpretation of Aristotle's own theory and to its relevance for the systematical debate. The participants are fourteen renowned researchers, who, in their contibutions, will discuss the following issues: ontology of action, explanation of action, intentionalilty, weakness of will, concept of the will, determinism and compatibilism.
