Mycorrhiza technology for staple food crop production in small-scale sustainable agriculture in China

The project is expected to upscale appreciation of the extent of biodiversity in arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and of their relevance in crop production systems in China. It aims to provide small-scale farmers with an alternative technology for increasing fertiliser efficiency and fertility of low-productive land, through the application of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi as biofertilisers and will serve as a prototype for the implementation of mycorrhiza technology in staple food crop production. Subsequent transfer of this technology will be relevant to promoting low-input, sustainable farming systems for primary producers not only in China but also in Europe.
