The Economics of Biogas Production

The project analyses the efficiency of the Renewable Energy Sources Act and accompanying costs of CO2-reduction in the field of biogas production in Germany. The study focuses on the calculations of regional CO2-mitigation potentials and CO2-mitigation costs. Furthermore, potential regional divergences in the agglomeration and diffusion of biogas production facilities are investigated by spatial econometric methods. A further focus is the assessment of the actual and future efficiency of the Renewable Energy Sources Act in the field of biogas production. Recent findings in the adoption of technologies and the application of the learn curve concept are used in order to carry out the assessment.
