The Young Islam Conference - Federal Level 2012 (Federal-YIC)

The project "Young Islam Conference - Federal Level 2012" is the first follow-up to
the pilot project "Young Islam Conference - Berlin 2011". 30 young participants will
critically and constructively engage with the topic of the "German Islam Conference"
(DIK), thereby designing an institutional framework for the long-term establishment
of the "Young Islam Conference". During two days, there will be 3 workshops with
educational content, an introduction meeting as well as a final meeting. The
workshops are structured pedagogically and feature researchers and practitioners as
contributors. The aim is to come up with a resolution that will be presented to the
larger public as well as the Minister of the Interior. There is a close cooperation
with the Federal Ministry of the Interior, civic society organisations and further
politics and media representatives. Further aims are to apply the concept of
"political advocacy" to adolescents in a particpatory framework, the transfer of
knowledge and the observation of the emerging interactions.
