12. International Conference on the History and Archaeology of Jordan (ICHAJ) (Veranstaltung: 05.-11.05.2013, Berlin)

From March 25 to 31st 1980, the 1st International Conference on the History and Archaeology of Jordan (ICHAJ) took place at Christ Church College in Oxford (UK). This event was the result of growing international interest in historical and archaeological research in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the need to create a visible platform of scholarly exchange. Suggested and initiated by H.R.H. Prince Al-Hassan Bin Talal, ICHAJ became a tremendous success. Ever since, the regular conferences that take place every three years and the high quality publications related to them – the Studies in the History and Archaeology of Jordan (SHAJ) – became a highly important tool for historians, archaeologist and many other scholars from related disciplines.
