“The Europeanisation of the Georgian criminal law” Alexander von Humboldt-Stipendium für Prof. Turava/ Georgien

Prof. Dr. Merab Turava’s research is focusing on the title: “The Europeanisation of the Georgian criminal law” and is supported by the scholarship program for experienced scientists of the Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation. This subject touches my own and the research subjects of my scientific fellows. As a chair leader at Law Faculty I am keeping close cooperation contacts to Prof. Turava since 2007, when I supervised a common student’s exchange project of HUB and TSU, sponsored by Meyer-Struckmann-Foundation and from a scientific meeting in Tbilissi in spring, 2007. Prof. Turava took part in several scientific meetings and conferences in Germany in the last few years. Scientific cooperation: He deals with intensive research of legal-comparative ideas from the German criminal and criminal procedural law for the dogmatix as well as the criminal-political advancement of the Georgian criminal law. He specialized in German criminal and criminal procedural law and has cooperated broadly with German specialists from Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg and Jena in relevant fields. His scientific work led him into numerous European countries to take part in talks and conferences in his fields of specialization. Besides the dogmatix of the criminal law and criminal procedural law he deals with the internationalisation or Europeanisation of this legal area as well as with the national criminal law and the implementing of national penal legal rules in the national criminal law, what perfectly fits to the research program of my chair and of my research group.
