Development of new photon detectors for the selection of large-volume liquid scintillator detectors

Abstract

Generic research and development tasks with regard to a new concept of photon detectors (Wavelength-Shifting Optical Modules: WOMs), focussing on the detection of UV-photons in (large-volume) liquid scintillator detectors. Many of the examining questions are of generic nature and are also relevant for the detection of cherenkov radiation in water and ice.
