CRC 951/2: HIOS – Theory of Transfer Processes and Optical Spectra of Molecule, Inorganic Semiconductor and Metal Nanoparticle Hybrid Systems (SP B06)
Coupled excited electronic states of hybrid systems shall be investigated theoretically with a focus on larger structures where an ab initio description is not possible. The systems combine supramolecular complexes or layers of conjugated organic molecules, inorganic semiconductor quantum dot or quantum well structures, and metal nanoparticles. Simulations are planned of photo-induced hybrid exciton formation, of excitation energy transfer, and of plasmon enhancement effects due to metal nanoparticles. The computation of related optical spectra will complete the investigations.
