Momentaufnahmen der photosynthetischen Wasseroxidation: simultane Röntgenspektroskopie und Kristallografie


In diesem Projekt sollen sowohl die gesamte Proteinstruktur und Dynamik des membrangebunden Photosystem II, als auch die chemische Struktur und Dynamik des sauerstoffproduzierenden Komplexes („oxygen-evolving complex” OEC), welcher die lichtabhängige Wasseroxidation katalysiert, untersucht werden. Der Mechanismus der Wasseroxidation (bei der Wasser zu molekularem Sauerstoff oxidiert wird) des OEC soll aufgeklärt werden. Wir kombinieren Kristallografie mit Röntgenspektroskopie, um dadurch sowohl die Gesamtproteinstruktur und ihre Veränderungen als auch die Umgebung des OECs (Mn und Ca) untersuchen zu können.
