AzKet – Development and Testing of Sensor Attachment on the Animal and Algorithms for the Differentiation of Behaviors
The aim of the project is the development of a new, stationary and transportable, online measuring, fully automatic diagnostic system (AzKet) for the early detection of acidosis and ketosis in cows on the basis of ion mobility spectrometry coupled with suitable methods for measuring bioimpedance, animal activity and near field communication. The Azket system is intended to withstand the conditions in the barn (dust, gases, humidity, discharges and exhalations of animals as well as their direct contact) and signal to the farmer at an early stage in which animals are developing acidosis and/or ketosis. The early detection and rapid treatment of diseases is of great economic interest due to the possible avoidance of direct animal losses, secondary diseases and sequelae, as well as milk losses.
