CRC 1265/1: Geographic Imaginations: People's Sense of Security and Insecurity in a Cross-Generational Comparison (SP A01)

The research project examines spatial concepts and emotional challenges posed by the re-figuration of spaces in terms of subjective experiences of security and insecurity. Based on group discussions, photo elicitation, and problem-focused interviews with three age cohorts in Vancouver, Berlin, and Singapore, their ideal-typical geographic imaginations are traced and analysed. The project pursues the question of whether and how security-related spatial knowledge is influenced by age, status, and social background.
