Prof. Dr. Artemis Alexiadou is the Director of the Leibniz-Centre General Linguistics (ZAS) in Berlin and holds an S-Professorship for General Linguistics at HU. She was Professor of English Linguistics at HU from 2015 to September 2022.
She began her academic career began as a research associate in 1992 at the Center General Linguistics in Berlin, where from 1999-2000 she worked as the Managing Director. 2000-2002 she worked as a Heisenberg Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, USA & the University of Potsdam in Germany.
From 2002 to 2015 she was Professor of Theoretical and English Linguistics at the University of Stuttgart. During this time she also had a stay as a Visiting Professor at the Stanford University in the USA in July 2007. In 2014 she was awarded the Gottfried-Wilhelm Leibniz Prize.
