Prof. Dr. Matthias Ruffert
Matthias Ruffert (born 1966) studied law in Passau, Trier and London (King's College). He was a Stagiaire to the European Commission. Following his Dr. iur. (1996) and Dr. iur. habil. (2000) in Trier, he became Professor of Public Law, European Law and Public International Law at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena. He was a visiting Professor at the Universities of Paris XI, the Université Toulouse 1 Capitole and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid; a Jean Monnet Professor (2011-2014), Academic Co-ordinator of a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (2013-2016); Judge at the Administrative Court of Appeal of Thuringia (2006-2016); Member of the Thuringian Constitutional Court (2010-2015) and Member/Spokesperson of the Review Board “Jurisprudence” of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (2008-2016). Since April 2016 Professor of Public Law and European Law at Humboldt University Berlin. He is currently spokesperson of the Research Training Group "Dynamic Integration (DynamInt).
