Prof. Dr. Tobias Kümmerle

Tobias Kuemmerle is an interdisciplinary researcher working on land-use change and how it impacts the environment, and how conservation can balance land use and the maintenance of life on Earth. He holds a PhD in Geography from Humboldt-University Berlin (2008) and has carried out postdoc stays at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA (2009-2010) and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact (2011-2012). Since 2012, he is a professor for biogeography at the Geography Department of Humboldt-University Berlin. Tobias Kümmerle has been awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant (2020), has been a member of the Young Academy of Sciences of Germany (2013-2018), has received an Einstein Junior Fellow award by the Einstein Foundation (2012-2015) and a Feodor-Lynen-Fellowship by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
