Ann Ehrenhofer-Murray has been doing research in the field of epigenetics and epitranscriptomics at Humboldt University since 2013. After studying and doing her doctorate at the ETH Zurich (Switzerland) and a research stay at the University of California, Berkeley (USA), the biologist with Swiss and British passports established her working group at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics (Berlin) in 1997. In 2004 she was appointed professor of genetics at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen and in 2005 she moved to the University of Duisburg-Essen, where she worked as a professor of genetics. In 2013 she accepted the call to the professorship for molecular cell biology at the Humboldt University and set up her research group in Berlin with the support of the Einstein Foundation. From 2018 to 2020, Ann Ehrenhofer-Murray served as President of the German Genetics Society.
