Diamond for infrared optoelectronics: time-resolved spectroscopy of excited acceptor states in diamond

The project is devoted to the experimental investigation of excited states in boron-doped diamond crystals. The lifetimes of the excited states will be determined by mid-infrared pump-probe spectroscopy and time-resolving Fourier transform infrared absorption spectroscopy. The interaction of excited states with phonon bands will be studied by high-field magneto-optical spectroscopy. The results will be compared with a theoretical model of hole capture in boron-doped diamond. Based on these results the potential of boron-doped diamond as a emitter for mid-infrared Radiation will be investigated.
